Quick Flower Sketch

I know it's been a while since I've posted. I've been very busy on a new film at Sony, and all my painting time is spent on stuff I can't post...for several years;(

In the meantime, I guess I'll just have to be better about finding time to paint for me. I painted the flowers below for practice. It went pretty quick...no more than an hour.

    I absolutely adore the reflections on this one, Paul! It's impressionistic soft, rather like Alice and through a glass darkly.

    I'd hang it on my wall if I could (except I have -no- walls that don't disgorge paintings as fast as we tape 'em up.)

    Hi Paul,

    Love all your pictures, specially LOTR's ones! I have a question : when you have to create paintings on very differents subjects like Moby dick or like those wonderful waves for the "surf pinguin"( hey), do you have all the ideas directly or do you have to make big researches ?? Shapes, colors come up quickly ?
    I'm always wondering if
    artists like you get ideas like god would have: in the second!

    absolutely stunning work, I pretty much visit your blog every day the last week since I discovered it.. love the moby dick paintings, as well as pretty much everything else! Surf's up is a wonderful film, I just wanted to move to Caribbean and surf the rest of my life afterwards, it's gorgeous and I can see where all that color came from.     Hi,

    I watched 'Surf's Up' for the first time yesterday and I think it is really awesome. The story is great and I was particularly impressed by the water effects which are about the best I've ever seen in an animated movie.

    It was really interested to watch it after seeing your production art. I had a good look at Cody's feathers to see your work first hand :)

    It's an amazing achievement and I will definitely be watching it again.
